On our own two feet
On 9 March we launched a campaign in partnership with
Barnado's, calling on the Government to include a savings scheme
for children in care in the 2011 budget. We asked you to join us in
putting pressure on the Government to help care leavers stand on
their own two feet.
A new savings scheme thanks to you!
Thanks to your help, we won, and the Government announced that
they would set up a new system to ensure that this vulnerable group
has savings to help them plan for a brighter future. Since then, we
have been in close discussions with the Government about what this
will look like, to make sure that it reaches all of the children
and young people who need it.

Junior ISA
The Government has now announced the details of the new
Junior ISA scheme, which are here:
We're delighted that we have secured over twice the
investment that was originally agreed, and that this scheme will
reach over 55,000 children and young people across the UK in the
first year, increasing every year after that.
We wanted to say a huge thank you for taking your action for
children in care. Together we have made a change happen that should
transform the lives of some of the UK's most vulnerable children
and young people forever.
