We changed our name in September 2008 to one that better describes what we do and what we value – Action for Children. We are sometimes asked how we are different from other charities with similar names.
Action For Kids
Action For Kids is a national charity, working with and for all disabled young people up to age 26.
- Their vision is a world where all disabled young people and their families receive the support and advice they need, when they need it, for as long as they need it.
- Their mission is about enabling independence, providing opportunity and offering support. They deliver this through services such as: independent living skills training; family support and advice; mobility equipment provision; and work related learning.
- Their values are based on friendliness, approachability, personal contact, dedication and openness. They focus on abilities, not disabilities.
Action for Sick Children (Scotland)
Action for Sick Children (Scotland) helps sick children and young people meet their healthcare needs in partnership with parents, carers and professionals.
- Their vision is for gold standard healthcare to be provided for sick children and young people in Scotland.
- Their mission is to help sick children and young people meet their healthcare needs, in partnership with parents, carers and professionals.

They do this by: informing young people, parents and carers of their rights and responsibilities and empowering them to participate in decisions about their treatment and care; working with others; researching and promoting high quality health care services and raising awareness and representing children’s needs.
Action for Children in Conflict
Action for Children in Conflict (AfCiC) works to assist and transform the lives of children in Africa affected by various forms of conflict or crisis; be it war, extreme poverty, hunger, illness, persecution or neglect.
- Their mission is to provide holistic, sustainable educational, economic and psycho-social services to vulnerable children and their families in Kenya.
- Their vision is to be the most innovative and effective child protection charity working with acutely vulnerable children in Kenya.
- Their values are high integrity, continuous reflection, honesty and the active seeking of knowledge.
