Why vote for Action for Children?

We work with families in crisis, disabled children, children in need of safe homes and young people who have experienced devastating setbacks, such as abuse, homelessness and addiction.

We provide specialist support and care, tailored to local circumstances and individual need - we know one size doesn't fit all. Sharing Network Rail's own approach, we too provide a network that people can rely on. Our support is delivered nationwide via 480 projects, each based in the heart of their local community.

We have been supporting vulnerable children for over 140 years, when our founder discovered abandoned children living under the railway bridges of Waterloo and set up our first home to look after them. Since then, we've been committed to being there for vulnerable children for as long as it takes.

Fundraising and volunteering opportunities

Our partnership with Network Rail promises to be filled with fantastic fundraising and meaningful volunteering opportunities. We would love for all 35,000 staff members to join us in making a real and lasting difference to the journeys of the children we work with.

Case study: Jamie

Children like Jamie*, who at age 8 was put into care after his parents could no longer look after him. He faced a huge amount of uncertainty and difficulties, resulting in him attempting suicide several times as he felt he had no-one to turn to.

At the age of 16, Jamie was referred to an Action for Children project. The project helped him to find secure housing, motivated him to finish his education and then helped him to find a job. Jamie describes Action for Children as being like a family to him, building his confidence and self-esteem, turning his life around and getting him back on track.

The support Jamie received will have a positive influence on him for the rest of his life, and by voting for Action for Children you will create a life changing legacy for thousands of other children and young people.

Please vote now

Both our organisations work day and night to help people get to where they need to go. By choosing Action for Children as Network Rail's Charity of Choice, we can help some of the most vulnerable children, like Jamie, to have a better journey to a brighter future. Thank you.
