By volunteering with Action for Children you will make a real difference to the lives of the most vulnerable and neglected children and young people.

You could also learn new skills, improve your CV, build your confidence and meet new people. Not to mention having great fun! We have many opportunities to get involved in volunteering, such as helping at your local Action for Children playgroup, mentoring a young person who has little contact with their family, coordinating our local fundraising collections, or driving young carers to activities for some well-deserved time away from their caring responsibilities.

Independent visitor - Gateshead

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to act as an independent visitors for young person they are matched up with. The North East Independent Visitor Service matches volunteers to young people who are in residential or foster care and who have limited or no contact with their family. Our volunteers provide vital ongoing informal relationships for these young people who otherwise would have no positive relationships outside of the professional network.
