Pastens is a unique and innovative project which comprises four houses arranged in a campus style layout. It is home to children and young adults who have severe learning disabilities and display challenging behaviour and who may also, in the case of one house, have profound physical disabilities. Some children may also have associated health conditions such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy etc.
These posts are ideal for individuals who would like the rewarding experience of professional childcare work, but cannot commit to a permanent post. We use these posts to cover permanent members of staff’s absence due to maternity, training, illness etc. Duties include caring for the children and undertaking domestic duties in the house.
Essential requirements;
- Adaptable and able to communicate at all levels.
- Sensitive to the needs of children/young people with severe learning difficulties and physical disabilities.
- Organised approach to work.
- Experience of caring for children.
- Value other cultures and religions and have an understanding of people with disabilities.
- Able to work duties as per rota.
