In response to today’s budget, Dame Clare Tickell, Chief Executive at Action for Children, says:
“We understand the need for tight financial management of our economy right now. But if the coalition government wants to be truly ‘progressive’ and help the most vulnerable, it must invest wisely now in early intervention services to avoid a peak of costly social problems in the future.
“Focussing long term investment on early intervention services, such as children’s centres, will not only have a proven long-term economic benefit, but the government will also be helping the most vulnerable families break deep rooted cycles of deprivation and neglect.”
