A big thank you to kmfm from Action for Children
23 December 2011
Action for Children would like to extend its huge thanks
to all of the staff at Kent's kmfm network, especially evening DJ
Nigel Ansell, who dedicated a whole day to fundraise for Action for
Children, on Friday 2nd December 2011.
Listeners across Kent were encouraged to take part in a live
on-air auction, between 6am and 6pm and were invited to bid on
various items donated by celebrities, local businesses and even the
opportunity to have kmfm broadcast a show live from their living
room, workplace or school!
The day was a massive success and has so far raised an
astonishing £12,340 and counting. The amount of support received
from generous listeners was fantastic and Action for Children would
like to offer its huge gratitude to everybody who worked on or
generously donated to the auction.
Selena Goldsmith, Fundraiser for Kent and East Sussex said: "I
just want to say a huge thank you to kmfm, all the kmfm listeners
and the companies who donated items to the kmfm radio auction! The
support was truly overwhelming. It really helped us in achieving
the grand total of £12,340 on the day and still counting. The money
raised will help make a massive difference to the lives of
vulnerable and neglected children not only in Kent but across the
UK.
You can still give!
"If people were unable to take part in the auction on the day,
its not too late! We are still running the Text to donate number
until the 28th December. This gives people the opportunity to make
a donation by texting "CHILDREN" to 70099. Texts will cost £1 plus
STD network charge with a minimum of 99 pence going to Action for
Children and help make even more of a difference."
