Generous donation funds Christmas party for 100 Warrington youngsters

22 December 2011

Festive party fun was the order of the day for 100 children and young people in Widnes, thanks to a charity donation by the Warrington drawing firm, Erasteel Stubs Limited, a subsidiary of Erasteel SAS based in Paris, France.

The company made a generous donation to Action for Children, commissioned by Halton Borough Council to run the youth service and a project supporting young people in care.

The obvious choice when it came to deciding what to spend it on was a Christmas party, complete with gifts for everyone who came, on Friday 9 December. Activities included festive story telling, interactive team games, face painting, cake and gingerbread decorating and balloon modelling.

Children and young people also enjoyed a disco and a magician, as well as visiting Father Christmas and his elves in the CRMZ Christmas grotto. Here, as well as a special gift from Father Christmas himself they had fun playing Pin the Nose on Rudolf with the elves.

Mr. Ashley Baker, Financial Controller at Erasteel Stubs, said: "This year the company held a Christmas party to say thank you to our employees for their support during a recent expansion and restructure. Some employees were unable to attend and so we decided to donate the money allocated for their places to a local charity. It seems very fitting for it to be spent on a festive celebration for young people, some of whom might not otherwise have much fun over Christmas."

Sally Carr, Action for Children support worker at Halton Youth Service, said: "The Christmas party was such a success and we would like to extend our thanks for the generosity of Erasteel Stubs and its employees. All of those who came, from the eight year olds to the 19 year olds, had a great time and will have some happy memories of the occasion."
