4 January 2012

A reunion disco, held at the Blakelaw Club in November, raised an incredible £600 and funded 87 tickets for the special Christmas production, allowing staff from the centre to organise two trips for families who use a variety of services.

A new experience

Action for Children's Caroline Herbert said: "Some families from this area would never consider taking their family to the theatre. We wanted to provide the children, and adults, with a really special experience and something they'll remember for years to come - all thanks to the generosity of the local community."

One local dad, Steven, said: "The bairns are excited about going to the Northern Stage play because they've never been anywhere like that before. We would never be able to afford to go if it was not for the help for the family from Action for Children. It will be great to see their little faces; they'll be happy. "

You can help fund another outing

Action for Children is fundraising to send other children and families from Newcastle on a trip to the Centre for Life, an award-winning science centre full of exciting exhibitions, activities and events for all ages.
