Very Important Prisoners are captured for charity
29 June 2012
Dundee United legend, Dave Bowman; Shona Robison MSP; and Joe
Fitzpatrick MSP are just some of the Very Important Prisoners being
held captive on the HMS Frigate Unicorn today [Friday, 29 June
2012].
Action for Children Scotland has captured the sports star and
SNP politicians - as well as business leaders from across Dundee
for its firstCaptured on the Tayevent. And the group won't be
released until it has raised a special ransom for the leading
charity!
Clare Pieroni, fundraiser at Action for Children Scotland,
explains: "In the 17th and 18th centuries, the Navy often tricked
young men into joining up by knocking them over the head and taking
them to sea. The captives could only secure their release by paying
a ransom.
"Today we are holding sports stars, politicians and business
leaders from across Dundee captive. Armed with just a mobile phone
and list of contacts, they will be asked to raise vital funds to
help Action for Children Scotland continue to support the area's
most vulnerable children, young people and families."
Bowman, who played for clubs including Dundee United and Heart
of Midlothian, and represented Scotland at the 1992 European
Championships, said: "All of the money raised at this fun event
will go towards funding a crèche at Action for Children Scotland's
Dundee Families service, which will allow parents to attend support
groups without having to worry about finding childcare.
"I am pleased to offer my support to the charity, which runs
many valued services across Scotland; and I hope to raise a healthy
ransom - to help Action for Children Scotland and to secure my
release!"
