Action for Children calls for Newport daredevils to zip it for charity
7 June 2012
Action for Children is calling on thrill seekers in Newport to
take the challenge of riding a zip wire to help raise vital funds
for vulnerable children and young people.
Zipslides UK has organised the event at Newport Transporter
Bridge off Cardiff Road in Newport, South Wales on Sunday 15th
July.
Newport Transporter Bridge offers one of the largest temporary
zip slides in the country. Participants will launch from a point
50m high, before sliding 320m into Coronation Park.
Action for Children fundraiser, Lucy Johnson, said: "We are very
excited about this event and would like to encourage as many people
as possible to join us in the challenge of helping some the most
vulnerable and neglected children both locally and across the UK.
Action for Children is looking to raise as much as possible from
the event, which will make a huge difference to the lives of many
children we support."
"It's going to be a fun event and it would be great to have
groups of friends, families, work colleagues and neighbours get
involved together. Fancy dress is encouraged; we would love to see
people dressing to impress. It will be interesting to see a fair
few Supermen flying through the air."
It's recommended that participants are aged fourteen years old
or over and raise a minimum sponsorship of £100. Those raising over
£125 will receive a free t-shirt. The entry fee is £40 per
person.
