Lucy's story

Girl -reading -a -bookAs the lights went down and the applause began to fade, Lucy nervously stepped out onto the stage. Her breath grew tight and her hands trembled as she peered out into the empty darkness.

As a bright pink light flashed in front of her, Lucy knew she'd be ok; her new mummy was there with her favourite pink flashing teddy bear. Right in the front row.

There was no need to be nervous any more.

Amazing achievement

This was amazing achievement for Lucy. When we met her a few years ago, she was very vulnerable from having been neglected by her birth family. When she arrived to live with Jane - and her new sister Sarah - she found the loving and secure family she'd been dreaming of.

Support for as long as it takes

Each year, Action for Children finds families for children that need to be adopted. We start by making sure the parents are suitable and stay with the families right through the process of adoption - to offer support to both the parent(s) and child over the next few years, or for as long as it takes.
