Residential childcare

Woman opening door to boy and smilingA safe and loving home is what every child and young person deserves.

For over 140 years, we've been helping children and young people who are unable to live with their families and need a supportive home. Providing a positive choice for those with the most complex and challenging needs through a range of residential homes and services.

What we do

Flexible, needs-led support and care - that's what we provide.  With an experienced, qualified, dedicated and caring team, we ensure a nurturing, structured and homely environment. It's about providing a place where children and young people can feel valued, stay safe and grow strong.

We're there with comprehensive transition planning and support. Working together, with children and young people, professionals, parents and local communities, we help ensure those in residential care get the same life chances as their peers.

Providing access to support services to improve outcomes

With services like our Intensive Supervised Structured Care (ISSC) Project in Ayrshire, we helpyoung people at risk of going into secure or long-term residential care. By helping them understand their behaviour, social issues and offending, they're supported to make positive choices in the future.

The service works in partnership with all Scottish Local Authorities to identify the individual needs of young people.  ISSC offers a robust community-based alternative that puts in place structured and individual care plans that will support offence-focused intervention, individual and group work programmes of social care, life skills and education/training, and intensive and supervised staff support for every young person.

It can be difficult for those in residential care to form new, positive relationships because of past experiences. Our integrated therapeutic support helps young people get a sense of belonging and identity.  It's about building confidence and self-esteem, improving outcomes each step of the way.

"Before I came here I didn't like to help people, but since I came here staff are so nice to me and I am nice to other people."
