Medium and long-term residential childcare
Vulnerable children and young people face a
variety of issues.
Neglect, physical and sexual abuse, offending, risk-taking,
attachment difficulties and a lack of self-worth - these can all
have a serious affect on a child's ability to reach their full
potential.
By providing a range of medium to long-term residential care
services, we can support these children, young people and their
families. Like when we help them to deal with any disruptions and
difficulties in their lives, or provide flexible, needs-led support
and care.
Our services help young people access sport, leisure, culture and
play, and encourage health and wellbeing. Teaching independent
living skills such as cooking, DIY and money management have proved
really successful. And, we can support young people to access
education and employability opportunities.
Action for Children Community Living
On behalf of Leeds City Council, Action for Children Community
Living provides a supportive semi-independent living experience for
vulnerable young people. This gives them the skills they need to
move to appropriately supported, long-term accommodation in the
community. The service provides 52-week care for up to seven young
people aged 15-17 and who are eligible for leaving care
services.
