Short-term assessment services
Short-term residential assessments
It's important to help young people, parents and professionals
develop a better understanding of their behaviour, social issues
and offending. That's what
we do by offering
short-term respite and emergency residential packages. These
services are part of community-based interventions for young people
involved in offending and anti-social behaviour. They also help
young people whose existing placement is at risk.
Working in partnership
Working in partnership with local authorities and trusts is
crucial. By doing so, we can help them reduce the number of young
people requiring 'out-of area' placements. It also allows young
people to return to their home communities after periods
away.
Gael Og Intensive Support and Monitoring Service (ISMS)
This short-term assessment service in the Highlands was one of
the eight pilot areas funded by the Scottish Government. Gael Og
ISMS works with young people aged 12-17 who are placing themselves
or others at risk of serious harm. Working alongside other services
already helping the young person, we can provide a holistic
approach to support them.
By delivering an intensive, tailored six-week assessment
programme, the service focuses on the root cause of the young
people's behaviour. Each young person within Gael Og ISMS is
allocated their own key worker who is responsible for liaising with
those working with the young person and their parent/carer.
Key workers give feedback on the young person's progress
throughout the programme. All young people are monitored and
evaluated regularly so that we can measure their progress. By
working intensively with young people, we can help them address
their behaviour and enable them to have a positive impact on their
community.
