Early support

Our early support services help disabled children to get
the best start in life. We're there from the very beginning,
working with families from the moment their child is diagnosed with
a disability.
Specialist support
Specialist support to the family and their child comes from our
targeted early support centres. By assessing each child and
family's needs, we make sure they get the best support possible.
This, alongside accessible, community-based resources, continues as
the child grows older. And it's not just about our services - we
link children and their families with other community facilities
too.
Support ranges from early intervention to high-quality medical and
therapy services. We can offer a 'one stop' support service for
pre-school children with a diagnosed or emerging impairment. And
when parents feel isolated from their communities, we help them and
their children to access universal services.
Communication is key - with the child, family and partner
agencies. This ensures services are appropriate, high quality and,
above all, meeting their needs. It's all about making sure disabled
children are getting involved in their community, right from the
start.
Examples of our services include:
- early years crèches
- specialist parenting programmes (such as the NAS EarlyBird
and
- EarlyBird Plus programme for parents of children on the
autistic spectrum)
- access to speech and language
- access to occupational therapists and physiotherapists
- sleep counselling
- portage
- information for families of disabled children about
resources/services
- education support programmes
- parent support groups
