Short breaks in the home

Suadas imageOur care at home services aim to support families caring for their disabled child and are part of the menu of short break and family support choices we have on offer.

We provide skilled, professional staff that can support children in their own home based on their assessment of need and individual support plans. We aim to provide regular staff and deliver the support in a flexible and responsive way.

Being where we are needed

For some families having an extra adult to support demanding periods of the day such as getting ready for school can be a lifeline which keeps the family strong.

Some disabled children with complex health needs and/or life limiting conditions will want support at home as a first choice rather than use services that take them away from the comfort, familiarity and specialist equipment they have in the family home.

Children with autism and severe learning difficulties may find it difficult to be looked after away from home so providing the care at home enables them to maintain routines and structures in a familiar environment.  If needed our staff can advise and guide parents with behaviour support planning and implementation to help them overcome some very challenging issues when caring for their child.

Support can be provided when the parents and carers are at home, enabling them to take a break for a few hours or longer, knowing their child is being safe, being well cared for and having fun at home.
