Children's centres
Children. Families. Communities. That's what
our work is all about.
Helping to ensure children, families, and
communities get the best start in life. And children's centres play
a fundamental part in that. We run over 120 throughout rural, urban
and inner-city England, helping over 90,000 children and families
get the early support they need.
Different needs, different solutions
Whether it's running universal services, like parenting programmes
and healthy eating and healthy living initiatives. Or providing
more targeted work, like interventions to prevent families from
reaching crisis point. It's about providing the emotional and
practical support families need, when they need it. Like our
partnership with Job Centre Plus, helping parents get back to work.
And volunteer opportunities at our projects to give parents
valuable work experience.
We're there for every child. And every family. In every community.
With specialised support for children with disabilities. Links with
health professionals in the wider CAMHS and NHS. And
inclusive services for those with even the most complex and
challenging needs. We're there with the support families need from
the very start.
Flexibility is key
For many families, traditional ways of accessing support isn't what
they need. These families aren't hard to reach, they just need to
be reached differently. Like providing outreach in their homes and
a project worker who speaks their language. We adapt to what works
best for them. Supporting families in the most flexible,
accessible, and relevant way possible.
A 'whole family' approach
It's a way of working that really listens and values everyone's
needs. It's about giving families a sense of ownership. And getting
them engaged in what's going on. Like asking fathers to choose
timings of activities, and having more male project workers on
site. Because we know that the more children and families are
involved, the more effective the services will be. Children and
families grow together - nurturing strong relationships that will
have a positive impact on the child's development for years to
come.
