Employment, education and training for parents
We know
that employment doesn't just help lift families out of poverty. It
goes much further - like helping to break intergenerational cycles
of deprivation. And, crucially, it has a positive effect on
children's mental health, behaviour, social integration and
educational performance.
That's why we offer access to a range of employment, education
and training support services through our children's centres,
family centres, family support projects, Flying Start Wales and
Sure Start Northern Ireland projects.
Our services
Help into work: We provide access to Jobcentre
Plus services, a convenient venue to get support into training and
employment with job opportunities and training and coaching
sessions.
Volunteer opportunities: By encouraging parents
to volunteer in our projects, we can get them more involved and
give them valuable experience and skills that can help them get
into work.
Adult education and training: Our adult
education classes, delivered in partnership with local Adult
Education services, cover a range of basic skills, like English,
literacy and computer skills. And our partnerships allow us to
offer additional training to parents, with successful results.
Impact
- 57% of parents said they had reduced their overall debt after
going on our Barclays' Financial Futures programme.
