Targeted intervention

All children deserve to get the best start in life. Unfortunately for many children this isn't their reality. Parental mental ill health, substance and alcohol misuse, unemployment and poverty can all seriously affect children.

But with the right support, we know children can overcome even the most difficult circumstances. Targeted services at the earliest point possible can make a significant difference: stopping cycles of neglect, stopping intergenerational cycles of deprivation, helping children to achieve better outcomes and reach their full potential. Our services range from therapeutic support for children who have suffered abuse to specialist parenting programmes to help parents address problems with their child's behaviour. We're there with support, for even the most complex and challenging needs.

Children and families growing strong

Building individual resilience keeps families together, benefitting the child's development now and long into the future. For parents with mental ill health or substance misuse, it's about getting the right therapy and support to get them well again. We help families deal with any difficulties they may be having. Like post natal depression or a recent diagnosis for their disabled child. It's about keeping families strong and helping them stay together.

Whether requiring intensive or ongoing support, we help parents address their problems  at crisis point and for the longer-term. Helping families about to be evicted and those seeking asylum - we're there with the emotional and practical support families need, when they need it.

Supporting families when they break up

Sometimes families breakup because that's the best choice for everyone involved. With services like family group conferencing and mediation, we provide a safe, confidential and neutral place for families to talk through their problems. It's about helping parents take shared responsibility and ensuring the emotional, physical and intellectual wellbeing of the child is protected during these difficult times.
