Spread the word

Promote your event

The more, the merrier - right? So why not tell as many people as possible about your plans to use your hour for good? You can get in touch with your friends, colleagues, and family directly, while also reaching out to the press and your local community.

Get in touch with family, friends, coworkers

Get a pen and paper ready! Whether you send your nan a letter in the post or you use Facebook Messenger, don't be shy about getting in touch with friends, family and coworkers directly. They will probably be delighted to hear about your plans and will want to support you. Make sure to share your news, pictures and progress, especially with those who've pledge some sponsorship.

Network and get social

Technology is a marvel, isn't it? A great way to spread the word is on social media websites likes Facebook and Twitter. You could announce your fundraising in a big way, and keep everyone posted as you plan your #HourForGood challenge. Want to get people engaged? Try holding a competition or offer a special perk to people who sponsor you early on. Don't forget to use the hashtag!

Raise sponsorship online

If you're taking part in an activity where you'll be asking for sponsorship, it's a good idea to set up your very own JustGiving fundraising page - it’s quick, easy and convenient. You can customise your page with information about your challenge and updates for your most ardent supporters. And all the donations will come straight to Action for Children, so there's no need for a visit to the bank.

You'd be surprised at how generous strangers can be – so don't overlook the power of promoting your event in your local media. Try getting in touch with your local newspapers or try to get the local radio and television stations interested in what you're doing for #HourForGood.
