150 Club

Join Action for Children’s 150 Club.

The aim of the 150 Club is to gain over 150 supporters giving between £1,000 - £5,000 in the lead up to our 150th birthday in July 2019. Our target is to raise over £250,000 so that we can continue to support our vital projects which are genuine lifelines to many of the children, young people and families we support.

I have been involved with this wonderful children’s charity for over thirty years and seen first-hand the huge differences their services make to disadvantaged children and young people and their families across the UK. It is my very great pleasure to support their latest vital and important initiative - The 150 Club. I really encourage you to support the charity’s life changing work through also joining the important and special 150 Club. Together we can do so much more.

"When I was 16, I was admitted to a children’s mental health hospital in Belfast due to self-harming. I was misusing drugs and alcohol too. Shortly after being discharged, I had another episode of self-harm and was back in hospital.

I was at risk of homelessness because my family home was too much to handle…I knew that I could call Action for Children’s 24/7 helpline and speak with someone. I know that they are always there for me, and others who need help… Now, I advocate mental health issues to Action for Children’s CEO and Trustees on the Northern Ireland Committee. I believe young people bring something unique to the board."

How you can help

Your donation to the 150 Club will continue to support children before they are born until they are into their twenties. With your gift, we will be able to help children at risk of neglect by providing them with a safe and stable home, help young people build mental resilience, and provide a range of services from early support to helping disabled young people prepare for adulthood. Allowing us to increase the impact we generate, and investing further into our current services, while also launching new initiatives.

Please take action now and inspire hope in the thousands of disadvantaged and young people we support.

I attempted suicide with an overdose. Locked the door and just isolated myself completely from the outside world. Action for Children helped me with building my confidence. They helped me with building my bond with my family again. They also helped me focus on a career and to push myself a lot better. Without Action for Children’s help I wouldn’t have known that I wanted to be a youth worker and help other young people.

Need for our services

The increased need for our services, alongside experiencing statutory funding cuts, enhances our need to raise more voluntary income to support and continue our vital projects.

- 3 in a class of 30 school children suffer from a diagnosable mental health condition

- 1 in 20 children suffer from a form of disability
