Derbyshire Talk Time

AFC_23-05-13_1255

We work with children, families and schools to find out what is behind the unhappiness and to make things better.

Our 'Talk time' service is helping schools to improve attainment by improving Children and Young Peoples mental and emotional wellbeing.

What we do

Children can’t learn when they are unhappy or emotionally distressed.

There is only so much that schools can do to help children who are having a difficult time.

We work with a child, their family and the school to find out what is behind the unhappiness and to make things better, or at least more manageable.

Some examples of the types of referrals we receive are:

• Loss issues (Family change, bereavement)
• Self- Harm
• Bullying
• Children who have witnessed Domestic Abuse.
• Children who have a parent have mental health issues
• Friendship Issues
• Confidence and self esteem
