Anthea Turner sleeps under the stars for Action for Children

Every year hundreds of people give up their precious bed, to raise money for Action for Children. This year TV celeb, Anthea Turner will be swapping her comfortable bed for the streets as well. We caught up with Anthea, to see how she is feeling in the run up to her night sleeping under the stars.

When did you first get involved with Action for Children?

I got involved with Action for Children through Richard Farleigh, one of the charity’s ambassadors. I'm well aware of Richard’s own story and why he is so supportive of Action for Children. The first event I ever attended was Byte Night.

What has inspired you to sleep out at Byte Night this year?

Richard Farleigh made me! It's also a great way to raise funds and awareness and I'm so in awe of the amazing work Action for Children do. This is something that I will be taking part in, year on year, to show my support.

How have you planned to raise sponsorship for your sleep out?

I'm going to be calling upon my friends and family to dig deep and donate! I want to beat my sponsorship target from last year so I need to get my thinking cap on as soon as possible.

Any words of encouragement for the other sleepers?

Make sure you wrap up warm! Get a good group of people together - you can raise more money and awareness and you can stick together on the night. Make sure you get a good quality sleeping bag, and bring a pillow! Action for Children will look after you very well, but do make sure you wrap up warm with a ground sheet too.
