With World Book Day later this week why not make a The Very Hungry Caterpillar™ mask with your child for them to wear to school or nursery?

What you'll need:

  • Red, yellow, green and purple foam
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Some elastic string
FINAL

How to create your caterpillar mask:

1. Cut out a face-sized circle from your red foam, then cut an upwards curve from the bottom - where your child's mouth will be (see photo).

2.  Cut out two large circles from the yellow foam.

3.  Cut out two slightly smaller circles from the green foam, and then cut out a circle from the centre of each (for your child's eyes).

4. Cut two antennae from the purple foam.

5. Cut out a small triangular nose from the green foam.

6. Glue your mask together and leave for 5 minutes to set.

7. Make two small holes either side of the mask and thread the elastic string through and secure it so that the mask fits well.

6. Pair this mask with a green top and trousers to create the perfect DIY The Very Hungry Caterpillar™ costume for World Book Day.
