Young Ambassador Workshop Day

Our latest Young Ambassador Workshop Day recently took place in Vodafone’s swanky offices in Birmingham!

Twelve of our young people, both old and new Ambassadors (ranging from young carers, to homelessness & housing support users, foster care and youth support service users), were invited to get together, have some fun, and to learn a bit more about being a Young Ambassador for Action for Children.

The focal point of the day was ‘Digital & Social Media’ training which looked at all aspects of social media, including: how to tell your story, capturing a moment in a single image, how to make your story stand out and planning a vlogging campaign - take a look at one of the brilliant vlogs that was created on the day by Tamara and Rachel:

Our Young Ambassadors loved the session and described it as ‘confidence building’, ‘Good for team work’, and ‘perfect’, plus gave us some pointers for next time.

Earlier in the day we looked at the ‘Top Tips for Participation’ guide that was produced following the last Young Ambassador workshop session, and the ‘Young Voices’ poetry collection from last year’s ARTiculation event which our Young Ambassadors were keen to reproduce to highlight the experience of being a Young Ambassador.

We also discussed the Governance of Action for Children; the structure of the organisation, how decisions are made, and the role of Trustees. Our Young Carers’ feedback from sessions like these is informing how we continue to involve our young people, and our Young Ambassadors, in our governance work.

To end the day, we finished with the traditional pizza before everyone headed to their trains after another fantastic event!

Help us do more.

Your support will help us make life better for the UK's most vulnerable children and young people.
