Stanley Goudie, CBE

Stanley Goudie was appointed as a Trustee in January 2012. Stanley joined the teaching profession in 1973 as a teacher of physics in a post-primary school in Glengormley in Northern Ireland (NI). 

In 1979, he was promoted to head of science in a post-primary school in Antrim and, in 1983, became vice-principal of a Community High School, also in Antrim.  In 1985, he joined the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) as a specialist inspector of physics. 

In 1996, Stanley was promoted to Principal Inspector for science in NI.   In 2001, Stanley was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief Inspector, and in that role established a new corporate governance Directorate with ETI viz the Policy, Planning and Improvement Directorate. 

For the period April 2006 to May 2007, Stanley, in addition to his work within ETI, established and was head of the Improving Education Division Directorate within the Department of Education in NI.

On 1 September 2008, he was appointed Chief Inspector of ETI, a post he retired from in February 2011.  Stanley is married to Heather and has two children, Zoe and Lee and two grandchildren Benjamin and Pippa.
