Employability programmes in Scotland

Supporting young people

Every day, Action for Children works with young people who face challenges securing sustainable employment, in order to get them job ready.

We provide the young people with industry-led training and certification while our database of partner and employer links ensures we identify the best opportunities for them.

These have been successful in helping difficult to reach young people access training and employment opportunities.

In the last twelve months we provided support to over 1,000 young people in Scotland.

Challenge

The Challenge service provides employability provision to young people who reside in various local authorities situated within the central belt of Scotland.

It is delivered in Glasgow, Edinburgh, East Ayrshire, Inverclyde and West Dunbartonshire.

The service is designed to support young people who have just entered into the early stages of employability support.

Each programme provides young people aged 16-19 years old with a unique opportunity to not only improve their confidence, employability and life chances, but also encourages them to take a definitive pride in contributing towards making positive improvement towards an identified community issue.

Transitions

The Glasgow Transitions Care Leavers' Employability Programme supports young people residing within the Glasgow-wide area who have been looked after at home or accommodated by Social Work Services.

The programme supports young people who are looking for work by sourcing appropriate training and/or providing quality employment opportunities across various employment sectors.

The young people receive support from a dedicated key-worker who provides one-to-one support, advice and guidance through care and after care, to enable them to make a smooth transition into employment or training.
