Fostering in Wales

We’re looking for warm, caring people who want to make a real difference. Become part of our friendly and professional team.

We are a family-centred service which will support you to ensure that fostering a child is a rewarding experience for you and your family. We offer specific training support and guidance to help you and your foster child, along with a generous fostering family allowance and a range of activities throughout the year which your family can enjoy.

At the heart of the Action for Children Fostering Wales service is the well-being of the fostered children and young people, the foster parents, our staff and colleagues.

We use Attachment theory and principles and our knowledge of the impact of trauma on early childhood development in our work to help children, young people and foster parents to make a meaningful emotional connection.

Action for Children Fostering Wales seeks to recruit a range of foster parents to meet the varied needs of these children, welcoming applications from all members of society, including:

  • married and unmarried couples
  • couples in civil partnerships, single applicants
  • gay and lesbian applicants either as couples or single
  • applicants with disabilities.

The key criteria is that people are able and willing to make a commitment to meeting the physical and emotional needs of the children we are seeking to place, in an environment which will ensure they can feel safe and can offer stability.

We offer high levels of training, supervision and support, including peer group support.

Often the reason why children come in to fostering means that they have had difficult starts in life. We offer specialist training and tailored support to individual children and foster families to help the children recapture their childhoods and make sure that children develop a true sense of foster family belonging. Thus giving them the best chance to have successful adult lives as part of a family that cares for them.

As a children’s charity we can offer fostering families the expertise and support they need when they need it. This service also offers specialist consultation and guidance to schools and our LA partners which sets us apart from other fostering services.

We offer Long term , short term and respite homes for fostered children. And would love to speak to anyone interested in offering a child a loving home and the experience of being part of a family – we can help you think it through decide which type of fostering is right for you and your family.

Do something life changing. Foster.
