Unaccompanied children and young people seeking asylum
This can be for a short term emergency or a long term home.

Many children and young people arrive in the UK without an adult to take care of them. This can be very scary and confusing. They may have come from a war-torn country and witnessed violence or death, and they may have trauma because of their experiences. Some of these young people know little or no English and will struggle to communicate. We need more foster carers to look after these young people and help them settle in to their new surroundings.
As a foster carer for a young person seeking asylum, you will need to help them find a place to go to school or college and encourage them in their education. You will also need to understand how important their culture and identity is to them and respect and observe any traditions they may have. You would need to consider food, clothing, and any religious holidays or festivals. Action for Children Fostering will provide you with all the support and training you will need.
We believe that all children deserve to have a safe and loving home without fear. Whether they're granted leave to stay in the UK or not, foster carers who welcome these young people seeking sanctuary into their home can make a big difference to these young lives.
