Our Royal Patron, the Princess of Wales
The Princess of Wales has been our Royal Patron since December 2016, following a 50 year patronage from the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Since then, Her Royal Highness has shown a genuine and lasting commitment to our work with children and families across the UK.
From visiting services to championing the importance of early childhood, she continues to play a valued role in raising awareness of the issues that matter most.

May 2025: Royal Recognition: Meeting Our Patron at the Palace Gardens
Our volunteers, staff, and young people supported by Action for Children were proud to attend a series of Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace.

February 2025: Princess of Wales visits Mother and Baby unit
The Princess of Wales visited the Mother and Baby Unit at Styal Prison and Young Offenders Institution in Cheshire; helping new or expectant mums in prison build strong bonds with their babies and break the cycle of reoffending.

December 2023: Together at Christmas carol service
Action for Children’s Young Carers Aloud choir delighted guests arriving at the ‘Together at Christmas’ carol service hosted by the charity’s patron, The Princess of Wales.

October 2023: Young Ambassadors meet our Patron
On World Mental Health Day, some of our Young Ambassadors had the incredible opportunity to meet their Royal Highnesses, the Prince and Princess of Wales, at an event in Birmingham.

May 2022: Visit to Glasgow primary school to see Roots of Empathy programme in action
The Prince and Princess of Wales visited St John’s Primary School in Port Glasgow to observe Action for Children’s Roots of Empathy programme.

July 2019: Royal Photographic Society & Action for Children Workshop
The Princess of Wales visited Warren Park residential service to take part in a portrait workshop run in partnership with the Royal Photographic Society and Action for Children.
