Peter Curran

Peter Curran joined the Board of Trustees at Action for Children in February 2021.

He currently chairs the Charity's Finance and Welsh Advisory Committees. Peter is also a Trustee Board Member of the Action for Children Pensions Board.

He hails from Cardiff, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA). He also holds an Economics degree from Aberystwyth University, and an Honorary Fellow of The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

Prior to retiring from full-time employment in 2023, Peter had over 20-years’ experience of operating as the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) in various sectors.

He was most recently the CFO for the South Wales Police & Crime Commissioner, which was a statutory role designated under the Local Government Act 1972.

His previous roles include Director of Finance at Aberystwyth University, Vice Principal of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and Director of Finance & Corporate Services at Sport Wales.

Peter is now a Trustee and a Non-Executive Director for a number of organisations in the charity, education, health and housing sectors.
