Anna Maxwell Martin: Our new ambassador championing vulnerable children’s futures
When she’s not captivating TV audiences, Anna Maxwell Martin uses her voice to champion children and young people. Discover how celebrity supporters like Anna help us raise awareness and reach vulnerable families.
Our celebrity ambassador and supporters never fail to amaze us with their commitment to Action for Children. Whether it’s through volunteering, speaking out on platforms, or campaigning for change, their efforts help us continue to be there for those who need us most.
Anna Maxwell Martin is an award-winning actress, best known for her roles in hit shows like Motherland, Line of Duty and Ludwig.
Aside from her day job, Anna is a passionate advocate for children and young people, and we're thrilled to welcome her as Action for Children's newest celebrity ambassador!
This year, she has championed our work to tackle child poverty and recently shone a spotlight on the devastating impact of primary school tests on children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Earlier this year, Anna joined our paying the price campaign, where we called on the government to take urgent action against child poverty.
As part of this initiative, our young campaigners wrote an open letter to the government, urging them to create a clearer plan, and invest more money into social security.
To help spread the word, Anna joined forces with us on Instagram for a collaborative post, sharing our child poverty video and championing the campaign.
Thanks to her support, we were able to reach a wider audience and inspire more people to sign our letter.
During the campaign, Anna also appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme – a national broadcast, to highlight the reality behind the child poverty statistics.
We have shocking children living in poverty statistics. Children going without dinner or breakfast. They don’t have a warm coat or can’t wash. They’re feeling a lot of shame and it’s a huge struggle.
