Services that support disabled young people in their own homes or help them access their local community and have fun can make a real difference

Who We Are

Our aim is to provide support, advice and assistance to children, younger people, and their families in the project base, their home or in the community across Lewis and Harris.

We receive referrals from Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Social Work and more, to support the work of therapists and provide complimentary life skills work.

The overall aim of the project is to provide help for children or young people to reach their full potential

We can give support to children and young people in a range of areas including:

  • Improving fine motor skills and gross motor skills.
  • Pre speech and speech and language skills.
  • Communication skills using intensive interaction. Supporting with PECS symbols or Makaton.
  • Life skills including independence, engaging in the community and practical skills such as cooking.

What We Offer

  • One to one sessions.
  • Small and large group sessions.
  • Structured therapy and play sessions.
  • Co-ordination of multidisciplinary meetings.

How We Do It

Once we receive your referral from a health professional or therapist requesting input, we will contact you to discuss the referral and create a plan to help your child achieve their goals.

Our staff then work directly with your child in a variety of locations individual to your child’s specific needs. This can be either at home with parents, in the nursery or school, at our facilities in Bayhead or in the community. We will strive to engage them in activities that help them in achieving their goals.

A&T staff liaise with all professionals involved to contribute to child plans, inform of progress and stay updated and each case is reviewed after a set period of time.
