We’re looking for warm, caring people who want to make a difference to a child’s life in Wales

Our fostering service in Wales provides safe and loving foster homes for children and young people aged 0 to 18 years.

Areas we cover

We recruit foster parents throughout South and North Wales.

Types of fostering

This is when a child needs to stay with a foster family for several years, or until they are ready and able to live independently. We want children to feel part of a family.

Short breaks are about looking after a child or young person for a few days, usually on a regular basis. They enable a family or a full-time foster parent to rest and have a break.

We recruit foster families to care for children with disabilities on weekends or for holidays. These specialist services run in the Swansea and the Neath and Port Talbot areas.

Usually lasting around 3 months, this type of fostering involves looking after parents who have their own children.

Children and young people who are waiting for the asylum application decision may need a home. This can be for a short-term emergency or a long-term home.

Fostering should be a rewarding experience for everyone. We will talk to you about the children who need families and seek your views and wishes.

Who we're looking for

Foster parents come from all walks of life. To foster, you will need to be at least 25 and have a spare bedroom.

You’ll have to be compassionate, understanding and good with children. We’re looking for people who have time to give to a child who may have experienced difficulties in their life.

Support and training

  • 24-hour support, with a supervising social worker and a foster parent helpline.
  • Extensive training and clear guidance.
  • Support groups and a buddy system for new foster parents.
  • Breaks when you need them.
  • Events and activities throughout the year.
  • Competitive fees and allowances and a range of benefits and discounts.

Our services take an attachment-based approach, from assessment of foster parents through to support of children. We have an art space for fun and creativity, and a therapeutic space for children to recover from trauma.
