Offering emotional support, group sessions and respite activities to young carers aged 7-18 and to young people affected by parental substance use (CAPSM)

The Scottish Borders CHIMES Service offers emotional support and access to funding for activities for respite to young carers and children affected by parental substance use.

This support includes individual and peer group activities such as arts & crafts, riding, cinema visits, as well as 1:1 support that enables young people to talk freely and in confidence about their feelings and anxieties, with an aim of helping them with relationships and developing coping skills.

The service also supports parents with drug and alcohol issues and any other family member impacted.
