A warm, nurturing home where young people can feel safe, understood and supported to thrive.

Welcome to Ty Arth

Ty Arth is a six bedroom residential home situated on the grounds of Headlands Residential School in the heart of Penarth.

Our home environment is warm and welcoming, and we provide each young person with an en-suite bedroom. Our communal spaces include a games room, a large living room, a visitor's room, a kitchen and dining room. We also have a large garden with space to enjoy the seasons all year round. We collaborate with our young people on the decor of the home and on supporting them to engage in their interests and activities. Our ethos is built on therapeutic relationships and creating a safe atmosphere, with the young people at the forefront of our practice to enable them to thrive.

What's it like at Ty Arth?

  • A spacious lounge, dining room and games room
  • Six comfortable single bedrooms
  • Large outdoor spaces including quiet areas, gym equipment and a flood‑lit football pitch
  • Access to community activities, school facilities and supported trips away

Every young person has their own Key Worker, who helps them settle in, make plans, understand decisions and feel at home. Together, they build a personal plan that reflects the child’s goals, strengths and needs.

Not only with providing essentials, but always having someone to talk to if I was having a bad day really meant a lot.

How to refer

Our referral process consists of three stages that ensure we facilitate a positive experiencing and matching process. Our priority is providing a home for young people who can best benefit from what we offer here.

Stage 1

The referral information is gathered and assessed by the admissions panel to decide if the young person’s needs can potentially be met.

Stage 2

Further information is collected through visits and feedback from residential and school teams before the panel reviews suitability again.

Stage 3

The young person and family attend a visit, and a final decision is made about progressing to an overnight stay.
