We provide respite care for children and young people who have severe learning disabilities and complex needs.
We are Ty Laura short breaks. We offer residential respite for children and young people from 5 years old until they turn 18. We are a 5 bedroom house based in Swansea.
We pride ourselves on providing a home from home for our children and young people. Our well-equipped and peaceful setting gives parents complete peace of mind while their children enjoy a night away at Ty Laura.
The service offers a safe, caring, child‑centred environment, where every young person is supported as an individual. Children can try new experiences, build friendships, develop social and practical life skills, and enjoy time away from home in a nurturing space designed with their needs in mind. The team provides:
- A purpose‑built, accessible home, including themed single bedrooms, sensory spaces, adapted bathrooms, and enclosed gardens.
- A highly trained staff group who deliver emotional, social and practical support, guided by therapeutic, child‑centred principles.
- Opportunities to explore the community, join activities, and work towards outcomes that promote independence and wellbeing.
Ty Laura follows core principles:
- Children’s needs, best interests and welfare come first.
- Wishes and feelings are respected and listened to.
- Children are always protected from harm.
