Use our range of downloadable materials and resources to help you raise money for Boycott your Bed
By boycotting your bed, you’ll raise vital funds to support children in need of help across the UK.
On the night, sleeper teams will kick-off the evening at our reception with networking, entertainment, food and refreshments before making their way to the sleep out location.
More details about the event will be released soon so make sure you’re signed up to get the latest news.
Right now, there are 3.9 million UK children in poverty. And with the cost of living crisis spiralling out of control, they’re even more vulnerable. Tonight, children all over the UK will go to sleep hungry. Some of these children don’t even have a warm bed to climb into.
We can help children in poverty now – but we can’t do it without you.
Together, we can make sure children have the basics – like warm clothes, hot meals and a proper bed. We can offer the right mental health support, so children thrive. And provide protection and recovery to child victims of abuse and neglect.
Where is the London Boycott your Bed taking place?
The exact location of the event is still being determined, but the team are working hard to ensure that it is somewhere central, easy to get to and has a great atmosphere!
What are the timings for the event?
The exact timings of the event are still to be determined.
Typically the evening starts at around 6pm for food, drinks and networking. Sleepers head outside around 11pm, and are given breakfast at around 6am the following morning before heading home.
Will there be an opportunity to network with other corporates?
Yes. Before participants sleep out, there's an indoor event with networking, food and drinks. You’ll meet the other teams participating in the event.
How big does my team need to be?
There are no minimum or maximum limits on team-sizes, but we like to go by ‘the more, the merrier!’.
How much do I have to fundraise?
While there's no minimum fundraising amount, we suggest all participants aim to raise at least £500.
Can I drop out at a later date, if it’s no longer convenient for me to take part?
Yes, although we’ll be sad to see you go, there’s always a drop out option for those who need it.
Will someone be able to help me with fundraising ideas?
How do I set up my JustGiving page?
Can I create a team of friends, or do they need to be corporates?
As this is a corporate networking event, it's encouraged you bring along a team of colleagues. However, we welcome anyone to take part in Boycott your Bed Live 2022.
What should I bring with me?
We advise that you bring warm clothes and something you'd like to sleep in/on (i.e. a sleeping bag or sleeping mat). We'll provide tarpaulins and foil blankets for the safety of all participants.
Can under-18s participate?
Due to the nature of this event, it's for over-18s only.
Will there be an opportunity to take part virtually?
Unfortunately this is a live event.
We have another event called Boycott your Bed: Stay Up, which can be done at home. This event will not have a live element. You can find out more at on the Boycott your Bed: Stay Up event page.
What Covid-19/safety measures will be in place at the event?
The team will work hard to ensure that all participants are safe throughout their Boycott your Bed experience, with dedicated security, safety equipment and processes in place to take care of every eventuality.
They'll also continue to closely monitor the situation with Covid-19 and commit to following any government guidance in place at the time of the event.
If you have any specific safety-related questions, the team will be happy to answer them at [email protected]
Do my team all have to attend the same location?
We ask that a team attends the same event – but, by all means, within your company you can create multiple teams to sleep out at different regions.
There'll also be some interactive moments on the night bringing everyone together!
Is the event accessible to those with physical disabilities?
Dependent on the nature of the disability, some people might find participating in the event uncomfortable. However, the Events Team will do everything they can to make the event fully inclusive and accessible.
If the team are made aware of specific accessibility issues in advance, they can work with you to ensure that necessary measures are in place, and help decide whether the event is a good fit for you/the person.
What will Action for Children do with the money I raise?
Action for Children’s vision is for every child in the UK to have a safe and happy childhood and the foundations they need to thrive. We protect and support children and young people. We do this by providing practical and emotional care and support. We make sure their voices are heard. And we campaign to bring lasting improvements to their lives.
