We're really pleased that you're thinking of volunteering with us!

Our roles are flexible and designed to fit around your lifestyle, so you can take part when it suits you.

Below are just a few of the ways you could support children, young people and families.

You can also tell us which roles you're interested in by filling out our form.

Volunteer opportunities

From iconic events like the London Marathon and Great North Run to half marathons and charity challenges, our fantastic runners take part in events across the UK.

We’re always looking for volunteers to support our runners, from cheering them on along the route, to helping at post-race receptions.

Being part of a cheer squad is great fun. You'll soak up the atmosphere, show your support, and give our runners a much-needed boost when it matters most.

This is a flexible role you can really make your own, involving placing collection tins in your local area and sending in the donations once they’re full.

Every tin collection can help make a real difference to children and young people.

From Boycott Your Bed sleepout events to formal lunches and business quizzes, we host fundraising events throughout the year and across the UK.

We're always grateful for volunteers who can lend a hand on the day or evening.

Fill out the form to let us know where you’re based, and we’ll share details of upcoming events near you and how you can get involved.

If you're part of the Methodist Church, we'd love to hear from you!

We work closely with Methodist Churches and are always looking for volunteers to act as a friendly link between the church and the Action for Children team.

You'll help support communication, coordination and simple activities that keep the church connected to our work with children and families.

If you enjoy speaking to groups, you could play a key role in sharing our story.

Our volunteer speakers attend events like WI and Rotary Club meetings, visit small businesses, and take part in cheque presentations to help raise awareness in local communities.

You’ll be supported every step of the way, with training and a template script provided.

Action Squads are our community fundraising groups who plan fun and creative activities all year round.

If you already have a great idea or simply enjoy bringing people together for a good cause, this is a fantastic way to get involved locally while being part of something bigger.

Our Challenge Champions are passionate supporters who help inspire and encourage others to take part in sporting and challenge events for Action for Children.

If you love motivating others and sharing your experience, this role could be perfect for you.
