Action for Children in Wales

Our work in Wales/Ein gwaith yng nghymru

Action for Children has been working in Wales since 1911. We support vulnerable children, young people and families in Wales through over 100 projects and services, working in partnership with local authorities, health boards and other third sector organisations.

Our aim is to give the children, young people and families the chance to fulfill their potential and to make the most of their lives.

Last year we helped over 17,000 children and young people.

We campaign to change the law and influence Welsh Government policy

Action for Children works with Assembly Members and Welsh Government Ministers to create changes that increase opportunity and enable every child, young person and family in Wales to overcome inequality and thrive.

Our campaigns in Wales focus on:

  • reducing inequality in the early years of a child’s life
  • supporting children in need
  • empowering young people to flourish as adults.

These policy areas are driven by our deep-rooted belief in early intervention and a desire to do what’s right for the most vulnerable children and young people. And our evidence comes directly from young people themselves.

Fostering in Wales

We're looking for warm, caring people who could make a life-changing difference to a child to become part of our friendly and professional team. We are a family-centred service which will support you to ensure that fostering a child is a rewarding experience for you and your family.

We offer specific training support and guidance to help you and your foster child, along with a generous fostering family allowance and a range of activities for your family throughout the year.
