Vancouver Children's Centre

Reportage-01

Our Children's Centres play an essential role in giving children and families the early support they need.

We are available to your whole community on a regular basis. Our aim is to provide effective information to parents of children up to the age of 8 years about the range of family support services available to keep our children safe and well.  We work in partnership with other agencies such as health visitors, midwives and local schools.

To help under-fives get ready for school we support children in attaining a good level of development; our services include: high quality early year’s education services such as ‘stay and play’ sessions; child and family health services, signposting to speech and language therapy and ensuring services are accessible to children and their families from 0-19 years and 0-25 years for those with additional needs.

In addition we offer support for parents with adult learning and employment support. This may include language, literacy and numeracy support, managing family finances and by acquiring access to apprenticeships and volunteering opportunities we provide links to Job Centre Plus, as steps toward finding employment.

Other parental support is available such as parenting skills programs and by providing antenatal and post-natal services.

This is supported by good quality, inclusive childcare
