Pastens in Surrey provides residential care for young people with profound and multiple disabilities

Our vision is a society where all children and young people have a sense of belonging, are valued and experience the joy of life.

Our purpose is to provide a stable, secure, enabling and nurturing environment for up to 14 young people aged 5-19 years.

Our aim is to provide the best possible care and to enable young people to lead happy and fulfilling lives.

Pastens provides residential care for young people with profound and multiple disabilities, including communication difficulties, sensory impairment, complex health needs and challenging behaviour.

We assess each child and develop an individual care plans with clear outcomes and how we will make the journey. With our well-resourced environment Pastens embraces the young people by offering warmth, compassion and individual understanding of their needs. We support young people to make choices and by developing life skills such as, personal care, cooking and communication.

Residential facilities

Our comfortable mixed gender accommodation provides organised, calm and stimulating environment and consisting of three houses. They are self-contained, with a kitchen providing nutritious meals, a dining room, lounge, bathroom and individual bedrooms.

Two of our houses accommodate five young people and one house accommodates four. The four bedded house is accessible for young people with very little or no mobility with complex health needs and is equipped with an emergency call system, overhead tracking hoists, large bathrooms with adjustable baths, bedrooms with fully adjustable beds and fully equipped communal areas. The young people have access to Pastens’ sensory room, a soft play room and beautiful gardens.

Committed residential care team

At Pastens quality, reliability and consistency of staff is paramount. All staff have DBS checks and undergo a comprehensive induction procedure, training programme, supervision, appraisals and are supported by colleagues and line managers at all times.

In partnership with parents, schools, the community and local authorities

At Pastens we understand the importance of working closely with parents and families. Maintaining family relationships is an important aspect of the way we work and support visits to our service or home.

Through Key Workers each child is provided individual support and they will maintain effective communication with the child’s family and professional network enabling a consistent approach to support their individual needs.
